Great Sites For You  to Look At

Enchanted Learning

This is a site that has great information for primary school children. Find information for Antarctica, and other units done in the classroom.

Scholastic Authors and Illustrators A great site to find out all you want to know about your favourite authors and illustrators.
Deltora Quest If you are a fan of Emily Rodda's Deltora Quest series then you will love this site. Find out about the books, play a game

What Search Engine Should I Use?

There are hundreds of search engines available to help you find information on the Internet. Each one searches in a different way, is linked to different pages and organises the results in different orders. (Some even put the sites that pay the most money at the top of their lists.)

I need to search using language that sounds like the way I talk.

Book Reviews

Dragon Keeper by Carole Wilkinson
This is a book set in Ancient China and is about a young servant girl who doesn't even have a name. It is about her relationship with a dragon as they embark on a long journey together with a large purple stone. First in the series. We now have the sequel in the library as well. 10/10 by Mrs Hill  and several other students.

THE BFG by Roald Dahl
The BFG stands for Big Friendly Giant. The BFG is a giant with big floppy ears.

The other characters in the book are Sophie who is an orphan, the nine giants who are very mean and  the Queen who is very nice. The army and the air force help the BFG.
Giant Country is a mysterious place with green sky, purple stones and is the home of nine gruesome giants and one BFG.
The plot is to capture the nine giants with some help from the queen.
I would give the story five stars because there are giants and the style of talking is so funny.

Dolphins Dance by Anna Goetze
This book is about a family where one of the children has autism. It is told through the eyes of the sister and shows the difficulties and the positives the family encounters because of their Max. Brings out lots of emotions. 9/10

There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom
by Louis Sachar
Another great book by this author. It was published overseas many years ago but has recently come to Australia after the success of "Holes". A terrific story about some primary school children that might be considered 'different' but with the positive influence of the school counsellor these children show us their real selves. 9/10
